HWP attachment rejected? Convert it to HWPX
If a Korean public-sector recipient asks for HWPX or rejects an .hwp attachment, convert the document to .hwpx and check the result before sending it again. Follow the recipient’s current submission instructions if they specify a format.
What changed?
- Some Korean public-sector document and mail systems are moving from the older HWP format to HWPX. The rule can depend on the receiving system and submission date, so check the notice shown by your recipient.
- HWPX is a different file format. Renaming the extension from .hwp to .hwpx does not convert the document.
If you have Hancom Office
- Open the original HWP file in Hancom Office.
- Choose Save As and select the HWPX document format.
- Open the saved HWPX file and review its pages, tables, images, and signature fields before attaching it. Older versions of Hancom Office may not offer HWPX export.
If you do not have Hancom Office
- Open Bakooda’s HWP to HWPX converter.
- Select the original .hwp file and inspect the preview, especially tables and images.
- Download the .hwpx result, reopen it, and compare it with the original. File conversion runs in your browser; the file is not uploaded to the conversion server.
Before you submit
- Check the page count, table layout, headers, footers, and any signature or stamp.
- Confirm that the file name and size meet the recipient’s rules.
- If exact appearance matters and the recipient allows it, consider attaching a PDF copy as a reference.
- Password-protected or restricted files may require an unlocked copy from the sender.
If you receive an HWPX file you cannot open
- Try Bakooda’s document viewer to read it in your browser.
- For editing, you can convert HWPX to Word, then review fonts, tables, and page breaks.
