How to use the Excel Editor

An online Excel editor for quick fixes to a spreadsheet on a computer or tablet without Excel. You can also start from a blank sheet.

  1. Choose an XLSX or CSV file to open the Excel editor, or start from a blank sheet.
  2. Type values and formulas into cells and tidy up the formatting.
  3. Save as Excel (XLSX), CSV, PDF, HWPX or Word.

What you can do

  • Type values straight into cells and use formulas such as SUM and AVERAGE.
  • Change fonts, bold, colours, fill, alignment, merge cells and wrap text.
  • Insert or delete rows and columns, and switch number or percentage formats.

Save formats

  • Save back to Excel (.xlsx) or export CSV.
  • Turn the table into a Hangul (.hwpx) or Word (.docx) document, or save it as PDF.

Good to know

  • Pivot tables, macros (VBA) and external data connections may not be kept.
  • Charts and conditional formatting can look slightly different after saving, so reopen important files to check.

Can I edit Excel files without Office?

Yes. Open an XLSX in your browser, edit the cells and save it again as XLSX.

Do formulas work?

Yes. Formulas such as SUM and AVERAGE calculate as you type and stay in the saved XLSX.
